Adorno "John" Joseph Prosperi Jr., a beloved patriarch known for his love of family, his Italian heritage, and the many cherished friendships he cultivated at the beach, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025. He was 90 years old.
Born on October 27, 1934, in Washington D.C., Adorno successfully established and grew a thriving furniture refinishing, storage and delivery business, a testament to his hard work and entrepreneurial spirit. Adorno later made his home in Delray Beach, Florida, where he embraced the coastal lifestyle and the community around him. He found joy in the company of his wife, Mary, and their children. His greatest happiness came from time spent with his family, whether sharing stories, celebrating milestones, or simply enjoying each other's presence.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years, Mary; his loving children, Joseph, Loretta (James) Ehrler, Victoria (Bruce) Franklin, and Danielle (Timothy) Marten. Adorno was a proud grandfather to Lauren, Jamie, Brad, Chris, Brittany, Catherine, Timothy Jr, Laura, Peyton, Reilly and Mary. He is also a great grandfather to 8 beautiful grandchildren. He is survived by countless friends who will miss his camaraderie and vibrant spirit. Adorno was predeceased by his beloved son, Terry, and his sister, Gloria Leone.
A Funeral Mass will be held to celebrate Adorno's life on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Emmanuel Catholic Church, 15700 S Military Trl, Delray Beach, FL 33484.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Adorno's memory to the Delray Beach Tennis Foundation for underserved youth, an organization reflecting his generous spirit, love of tennis, and care for future generations.
Adorno's legacy of love, friendship, and dedication will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
