Obituary

Albert B. Carney of Boynton Beach, FL passed away on April 19, 2016 at the age of 99 years.  Albert was born on January 6, 1917 in Wilmington, North Carolina.  Albert moved to Allentown, PA as a young man where he founded Carney Machinery Company and met his wife of 53 years, Jeanne, where they united their families.  He was involved in the heavy machinery business before moving into industrial real estate development activities.  He moved to Wilmington, DE where he acquired a portion of the original Pusey & Jones shipyard buildings and later became a successful industrial and commercial developer.  He transferred a number of idle buildings into productive and functional commercial facilities.  He was always in pursuit of the next deal.  He and Jeanne moved to Florida where he spent his later years.

Albert derived much enjoyment boating on the Chesapeake Bay and the Florida waterways where he entertained both family and friends.  He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Delray Beach, FL for 20 years and prior member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Wilmington, DE.  In addition, he was a long time member of the Delray Beach Club and formerly Wilmington Country Club.

Albert is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne, and beloved dog, Cleo.  His children; Gordon (Sallie), Michael, Ned (Karen), Mary Jean (Randy), John (Sarah), Beth (Dennis) and Ben.  His grandchildren; Michelle, Jeffrey, Jonathan, Larissa, Lauren, Lashley, Meghan, Jake, Leslie, Rebecca, Rachel, Allison, Albert and AJ.  His great-grandchildren; Brittany, Jessica, Harlan, Jasper, Amelia, Violet, Silvia, Johnny and Kendall.
