Obituary

Alfredo Serrano, lovingly known to all as Freddy, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 after reaching the age of 80 years old. Freddy struggled with failing health for years but the fighter that he was and his immense love for his family kept him strong and determined not to give up.

Freddy was born on August 1, 1941 in Moca, Puerto Rico. He was the oldest son of Cirila and Martin Serrano. He moved to Brooklyn, NY when he was 15 years old with his parents and younger siblings. At this tender age, he made it his mission to provide food and shelter for his parents and siblings.  Rather than furthering his education, Freddy sought employment because family was everything to him and they always came first.

At 21 years old, he married the love of his life, Irma Marquez. They were married for 59 wonderful years and had 5 beautiful children.

Freddy loved music, dancing and singing. He would entertain friends and family playing the maracas and guiro. He loved to watching baseball, playing dominoes and the slots.

He was a strong patriarch of his family, a good friend to all, a man who would give his shirt for a friend. He was a good father who always took care of his children and did the best he could to teach and guide them, a loving grandfather and "great-grand" father to many.  A man who never cared much about himself and who even in his final days would say to his loved ones, "just to take care of your mother when I'm gone".  Freddy was a strong, proud and good man. He is loved and will be missed by many!

He is preceded in death by parents and his sister, Aida. Freddy is survived by his loving wife, Irma, children Luis, Miguel, Edwin, Maribell, and, Osvaldo.  His grandchildren Christian, Andrew, Ryan, Michael, Justin, David, Samantha, and Joseph and great-grandchildren Ava, Sebastian, Lorenzo, and Jackson; his brother Luis, sister Carmen; a host of nieces, nephews and other beloved friends and relatives.

Friends may call on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 1:00PM at the Lorne & Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6 th Avenue (North Federal Highway), Delray Beach, FL with a funeral service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery, Royal Palm Beach, FL.
