Obituary

Ann Garthwaite Kishbaugh (nee Bennett), age 94, passed away with loving members of her family by her side on November 23, 2016 from complications of a stroke. Born and raised in White Plains, New York, "Annie" was the daughter of Walter V. and Grace F. Bennett. Formerly of Bryn Mawr Pennsylvania, Annie resided in Ocean Ridge, Florida and Mashpee, Massachusetts. Annie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Albert A. Garthwaite, Jr., sister Barbara Burbank, and brother Walter Bennett. She is survived by her adoring husband Herbert S. Kishbaugh, loving daughters Diane Garthwaite (Dr. Matthew Liang), Wendy Lee Garthwaite DeMarco (Dr. James DeMarco), cherished grandchildren Albert Alexander Ridley (Rosana Ridley), Kirsten Kling Devlin (Neil Devlin), Darcy Brennan Poor (Matthew Poor), Colin Garthwaite Brennan, Andrew A. Garthwaite, much adored great-grandchildren Christopher Salles Ridley, Leo Alexander Ridley, Albert Alexander Ridley, Jr., Audrey Brennan Poor, step-children Robert Kishbaugh, Lynn Newman, Catherine MacLean and several nieces and nephews.

An accomplished swimmer and golfer, Annie was always the "Life of the Party". Voted "Best Looking Girl in the Class" at White Plains High School, she would turn heads with her stunning beauty and radiant presence when entering a room. Annie had a wild sense of humor, laughed at herself with abandon, and made everyone laugh with her. She was fiercely independent and determined to do things her way. Always attentive to manners, she believed in the proper way of doing things but could just as easily swear robustly. Beyond all else, her family was the center of her being. She loved unconditionally and was beyond proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered by her family for her playfulness and for bringing out the laughter, uninhibited joy and freedom in them all.

Annie was an active philanthropist, both personally and through her family foundation, where she focused on supporting the welfare of children, animals, and the preservation of nature.
