Obituary

Ann Marie (Tiernan) Scanlon was born on June 6th , 1937 in New York City to Irish immigrants who came to the United States to pursue the American dream.

She attended Mother Cabrini High School in Manhattan, where she was valedictorian of her graduating class.

Like her parents, Ann was a very devout Catholic and patriotic Irish American.

Despite receiving offers to attend college, Ann decided to dedicate herself to family life and later married Mr. Neil Scanlon in 1960.

In the following years, Ann gave birth to three sons: Robert, Neil and Philip.

In 1965 Ann and her husband Neil moved from the New York City to New Jersey, where they established a household.

Ann dedicated herself to raising and educating her three sons, all of whom later attended college.

Ann was a very enthusiastic, positive and caring mother and grandmother who imparted her values to her sons, as well as her grandchildren: Nicole, Jessica, and Michael of Long Valley, New Jersey and Jillian and Mikey of Boca Raton, Florida.

In 1998, Ann suffered severe injuries in a car accident. Due to these injuries, Ann was paralyzed from the the waist down and lived with pain and other complications for the rest of her life.

Nevertheless, Ann maintained her cheerful and positive outlook on life and served as an inspiration to all those who came in contact with her.

Ann passed away on September 23rd, 2012 in the company of her loved ones. She is survived by her husband, Neil, of Delray Beach, FL, her son Robert of Moscow, Russia, her son, Neil and his wife Laura, of Long Valley, NJ, and son Philip of Boca Raton, FL. Ann is also survived by her brother Frank and his wife Jane of Hicksville, NY.

She will be greatly missed and her spirit will remain in our hearts forever.
