Obituary

Anne S. Bright, The Queen of Delray, entered her heavenly retirement on October 11, 2026. She was born in Bryn Mawr, PA, on October 7, 1943, the only child of Henry Stokes and Isabell Paul Stokes. She spent her youth in Saint-Jovite, Quebec; Northeast Harbor, ME, New York City, NY; and with her maternal grandparents at Box Hill, Radnor, PA. She graduated from The Chapin School in Manhattan.

She married Karl Negley Mellon in 1962 and divorced him in 1969. That marriage produced two children: Matthew T. Mellon and Henry C.S. Mellon and six grandchildren (Araminta, Force, Olympia, Parsons, Gwendolyn, and Stokes). In 1975 she married J. Reeve Bright in Northeast Harbor, ME, a union that produced one child, Nicholas R. Bright, and two grandchildren (Drexel and Mills).

Anne and Reeve built a life in Delray Beach, FL summering in Maine. Anne founded and ran The Frame Factory in Boca Raton while being involved civically in Delray Beach. She was a long-time member of Delray Rotary Club and spent over 35 years advancing the cause of Achievement Centers for Children and Families in Delray Beach. Her physical abilities became impaired by lupus, which led to her raising enormous amounts of money for Lupus Foundation of America, as Reeve served as National Chairman of that organization. The foundation awarded her the Fleur de Lis Award for volunteer fundraising.

Anne was a devoted mother, grandmother, wife and friend whose warmth and generosity touched everyone who met her.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church, 3300 S. Seacrest Blvd., Boynton Beach, FL 33435.

Instead of flowers, the family asks that you donate in her name to Lupus Foundation of America or Achievement Centers for Children and Families, Delray Beach.
