Barbara Carlson Gwynn passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, July 29, 2012. Barbara moved to Delray Beach from Batavia, Illinois in 1952. She met and married her devoted husband, William Gwynn on July 25, 1954. She worked as a model in South Florida while raising her three daughters and founded BG Modeling Agency in 1969. In addition, she served for 15 years as the Town Clerk for the Town of Gulfstream.
Barbara's true passion was the love of animals, especially dogs. She helped rescue dogs after several hurricanes and found homes for those displaced. Her other passion was sign language. She studied it and later began ministries with the First Baptist Church of Delray Beach, Mae Volen Center and her home church of St. Martin. She loved her family and enjoyed entertaining. As a person of great faith she was dedicated to her church and was ready to meet her Lord.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bill Gwynn, daughters, Dianne Gwynn McWhorter (husband Ed McWhorter), Susan Wilder (husband Lee Wilder), Sylvia Pecaro (husband Bernard Pecaro), grandchildren, Christine Wilder, Courtney Wilder, Rachael Pecaro and John William Pecaro.
A celebration of Barbara's life will be held on Friday, August 3, 2012, 11:00AM at St. Martin Episcopal Church, 140 S.E. 28th Ave., Pompano Beach, FL 33062. In lieu of flowers, please offer your gifts to St. Martin Ministries. LORNE & SONS FUNERAL HOME, Delray Beach in charge of arrangements.
