Barbara Ann (Sloan) Hathhorn passed away in her home in South Florida peacefully on October 10, 2024. Barb was born in Colver, PA on March 2, 1953, to Samuel J. Sloan and Dorothy "Dot" (Harvey) Sloan. She graduated from Bishop Carroll in Ebensburg, PA. She moved to Delray Beach, FL where she met her late husband Thomas D. Hathhorn Jr. They married on May 26, 1979, and later had three children: Brian T. Hathhorn, Stephanie (Hathhorn) De La Res, and Gregory T. Hathhorn. Barb and Tom settled in Washington, IN to raise their children until retirement in 2011 than they moved to Boynton Beach, FL to live their last years.
Barb was one of a kind and could carry a conversation with anyone she ran into. She was the life of the party with her stories and sense of humor. Barb loved to listen to music and dance with Tom and knew how to have a great time. She was a loving mom and grandma and loved to play board games and cards just like her mother Dot. She also loved decorating and crafting in her spare time. She will be remembered for her smile, laugh, and sense of humor that made people laugh. She enjoyed watching football with Tom and loved the Steelers.
She was preceded in death by her parents Samuel Sloan, Dot Sloan, her husband Tom Hathhorn Jr., and grandson Rhys Hathhorn. She was survived by Her sisters Sandy (Bill) Forcine and Cathy (Tom) Croyle along with her brothers Sam Sloan and Gregory Sloan. Also survived by her children: Brian Hathhorn, Stephanie (Hathhorn) De La Res, and Gregg Hathhorn and grandchildren; Brody Hathhorn and Gabriella Sloan De La Res.
Barb's visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 9:30am to 11:30am with a funeral Service starting at 10:30am at Lorne and Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6th Ave, Delray Beach, FL 33483.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital in Barbara's honor.
Private burial will be held at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 South State Road 7, Lake Worth, FL 33467.
