Obituary

Billy Ray Taylor, 65, of Boynton Beach, FL passed away on January 13, 2013. Billy Ray was formerly of Birmingham, AL area (1947-1983), Ringgold, GA (1984-1991), Pinehurst, NC ( 1992-2008),and Dobson, NC ( 2008-2011). He was a 1990 graduate of Dalton College, Dalton GA – Business and a 1998 graduate of Sandhills Community College, Southern Pines, NC in Computer Science, Phi Theta Kappa. Billy Ray was a veteran of USAF Air National Guard (1966-72 – SSGT) aerial photo systems. A beloved Christian, friend, husband, and father, Bill enjoyed computer programming, travel, cats, woodworking, bowling, gardening, Alabama football, hunting, and history. Bill never met a stranger, was quick to volunteer to help others, and always made us laugh. He had a heart of gold. Billy Ray attended Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Delray Beach, FL, Dobson First Methodist Church, Dobson, NC, and Our Savior Lutheran Church, Southern Pines, NC. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Debra Honeycutt Taylor of Boynton Beach, FL; daughter Jessica Watkins (Tommy) of Sterrett AL; son Jonathan Taylor (Malinda) of Birmingham, AL; granddaughter Emma Watkins of Sterrett AL; Sisters Margaret Milam (Glenn) of Pell City, AL and Sybil Barber (Rick) of Trussville, AL; aunt Lola Venable of Pinson, AL; and several cousins. Friends may call on Friday, January 18, 2013 from 6PM to 8PM at the LORNE & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 745 NE 6th Avenue (N. Fed Hwy), Delray Beach, FL. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013, 2PM at Trinity Lutheran Church (Historical Chapel), 400 North Swinton Avenue, Delray Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or to a local animal shelter or rescue group in Bill's honor.
