Bushrod Washington Burns, Jr., 79, of Ocean Ridge passed away on December 18, 2012. Mr. Burns was a 1955 graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in accounting. He was a member of Pershing Rifles and a Justice on the Military Supreme Court. He served in the US Army. Bushrod (Bush) began his business career at Ford Motor Company in MI, on the Executive Training Program. During his career, Bush worked for General Cable as Corporate Controller, RCA as Vice President of Accounting & Planning, Dyson Kissner Moran Corp as Senior VP of Operations, Board of Director for Esterline Corp, Kearney National, Imclone Sytems, Delton Industries. Bush is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dolores. The Burns have two wonderful children Brenda Norton and Bushrod William Burns, 2 grandchildren Connor Norton and Callilyn Norton and his brother and sister-in-law Norman & Virginia Burns.
Unfortunately at the age of 70, Bush was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) which he fought bravely for 10 years.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 20, 2012, 1:30PM at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, 840 George Bush Blvd., Delray Beach. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in West Palm Beach. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, Transfiguration Church in Tarrytown, NY or the ALS Association of South Florida.
