Obituary

Carol Gay Curtiss Dewart of Delray Beach, FL, formerly of Greenwich, CT, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2023.  She was born on October 2, 1935 in New York City and was the daughter of Donald Leroy Curtiss and Vera Thiery Curtiss.

During her earlier years in Greenwich,  she was on the Board of Trustees of The Junior League and Greenwich Academy where she graduated from. She was one of the founding members of The Grace Notes singing group.  She had a fabulous first alto voice.

She also worked for the Travel Consultants of Greenwich. Gay loved to travel. As a young married couple, She and her husband Bill lived in Japan while Bill served in the military. Gay loved planning her family trips abroad so much that she joined Travel Consultants of Greenwich to help other families plan their journeys.

She and Bill were both avid sailors while residing in Greenwich. They were members of The Indian Harbor Yacht Club as well as founding members of the Stanwich Club.

In 1981, she and Bill moved to Delray Beach, where she was the head of the landscape committee at The Landings Condominiums and a member of The First Presbyterian Church. She also continued her love of music with the Delray Beach Choral. She also loved to knit and needlepoint.

Gay was predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years,  William Thompson Dewart III, in 2003.  She is survived by her three daughters Wendy Altman (Robert), Barbara Williamson and Laura Bartone (Ray), her sister Barbara Riecker, brother Don Curtiss (Lynne), seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A private family service will be scheduled for later this Spring.
