Obituary

Cubby A. Kovalsky peacefully passed away at home in Delray Beach, FL, at the age of 71, on December 3, 2018, after a long illness.  Mr. Kovalsky lived in Delray Beach the last five years and was a life long resident of Franklin, NJ.  He was predeceased by his father, Andrew P. Kovalsky and his mother, Annie Shankus Kovalsky.  He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara Finkle Kovalsky (originally of Sparta), two sisters, Joanne Kovalsky of Culvers Lake and Andrea Kovalsky of Hamburg.  He is also survived by his nephew and godson, David Schiff of Hamburg, as well as 14 other nieces and nephews and many grand nieces and nephews.

Mr. Kovalsky received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson in Madison, NJ.  He received his Master of Education and Administration degree from William Paterson University.

Mr. Kovalsky was a Franklin High School graduate and taught at Franklin Elementary School for 25 years.  He coached many sports during that time.  He also was a head linesman during Franklin High School football games.  He served as a Franklin Special Police Officer and was a life long member of the Immaculate Conception Church.  He had a love of the Sussex County outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He especially loved fishing in Lake Ontario with his friend Dave Davenport.  He also loved fishing and hunting in Sussex County and by his home in Seaside Park with his brothers-in-law, Robert Finkle of Sparta and Tim Finkle of Burlington, VT.

A Memorial Celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, 575 Route 28, Building 2, #2107, Raritan, New Jersey, 08869.
