Obituary

Dana T. Bannan, of Lantana, FL, formerly of Irvington, NJ, passed away on January 27, 2024. She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in Boynton Beach and Quail Ridge County Club.

Dana is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Lynn C. & Michael Pilato of Boynton Beach, a son Chad Bannan of Ocean, New Jersey. She also leaves behind brother Alan Truesdell of Griggstown, NJ, nieces Nancy Laraway (Alan) of The Villages, Linda Byun (Chan) of Northborough, MA, Jeffrey Truesdell of San Francisco, Carol Fisk (Erik) of Ringe, NH, Melissa Laraway of Traverse City, and Matther Laraway of Baltimore, MD, along with 4 additional grand-nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Joseph T. Bannan in 2012 and a son Neil Bannan in 2014.

Dana was a devoted wife, mother, aunt and friend to so many. She met the love of her life, Joe, in the summer of 1954, and they were married the following year – June 18, 1955. Dana and Joe settled in Shrewsbury, NJ and soon welcomed their first son, Neil, who was a Special Needs guy with endless love for everyone he met. Dana and Joe took superb care of him throughout his 56 years of life. They also raised a second son, Chad, who continues to thrive with his own landscaping business in central New Jersey. When daughter Lynn was born (1966), Joe and Dana built a new home in Colts Neck, NJ, where they raised their family for many years.

Dana was totally devoted to her husband over the many years of his active career at International Flavors & Fragrances in NYC. They traveled extensively throughout the country and abroad, and she was always by his side for support and guidance (especially to help remember names!)

She was an avid bowler and tennis player, as well as platform / paddle tennis. Dana was devoted to taking the most excellent care of Neil, while raising Chad and Lynn… running from baseball to basketball to dance classes.

Dana and Joe purchased a villa in Quail Ridge in 1980, where they enjoyed many school vacations and summers together. Eventually, they built a house once Joe retired and Lynn graduated college in 1988. They enjoyed many years of tennis, cruises, and social activities in the Quail community.

Dana will always be remembered for her vibrant smile, respect for others, and attitude for life! Our entire family will miss her so very much. She touched many lives along her beautiful journey.
