Daniel E.
Parkinson
July 17, 1963 – June 29, 2023
Daniel (Dan) E. Parkinson, 59, of Delray Beach, and formerly of Coral Gables, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Renee (Westbrook) Parkinson, and daughters Lily (Kellen) Denny and Molly Parkinson, and his new grandson, Reece Daniel Denny. His is also survived by his older sister, Ann (Robert) Stuart and many nieces and nephews. Dan was predeceased by his mother and father, Betty & Eddie Parkinson, and his brother, Tom.
Dan was born and raised in Coral Gables, FL, and graduated from Coral Gables High School where he had an outstanding career as a leader on the varsity football team. He attended the University of Florida and was an active member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He graduated from Florida International University with a degree in political science. He met the love of his life, Renee, a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority, while at UF.
After graduating, he returned to South Florida and was employed by Miami Motor Sports, Accord Video Productions, Bonacker & Leigh, and Merritt Transfer & Storage.
Dan was a wonderful father devoted to his family. He was a dedicated "dance-dad," and supported both of his girls in all of their activities. He was proud to watch as each carried on the family legacy, attending the University of Florida and becoming Gators. He was a lifelong racing fan, interning for NASCAR as a college student and attending just about any race he could at Daytona or Homestead. He also loved everything about the Indianapolis 500… attending many times with his father, Eddie, and becoming more than just a weekend enthusiast. He studied the history, the drivers and especially enjoyed walking around the Indy 500 Museum. He shared his love of racing with everyone he touched, especially his daughters. His friends knew him as a faithful friend, committed to providing assistance when called upon, or just sound advice. He was often seen walking around the neighborhood with his dog, caring for his lawn, or listening to Jimmy Buffett in his blue Mustang.
While Dan's family grieves the loss of their beloved husband and father, they rejoice in the certainty that he is now with his Holy Father, and they know his legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren.
