David J. Hennessey, 84, of Delray Beach, FL passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2019.

Born in Manhattan, New York City, David graduated from LaSalle Academy, NYC.  He served 2 years in the US Army and in 1957 joined the New York City Police Department where he served raising to the rank of Lieutenant.  While on the force he met his wife Arlene, also a Lieutenant, on the NYPD.  They married in 1984 and retired together in 1989.

They enjoyed traveling, fine dining and spending time with the family.  They traveled often to Key West, FL and Delray Beach, FL and finally settled in Delray Beach in 2014. He was a wonderful man and one of the good guys.

David is survived by his wife Arlene, son James (Francis) Lapidra, daughters: Debra O'Brien and Lori Burgess, stepson: Martin (Karen) Glynn, stepdaughters: Audrey (Sam) D'Alessandro and Sandra (Anthony) DeLuccio, 20 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Friends may call on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 from 2PM to 6PM at the Lorne & Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6 ^th Ave. (North Federal Highway), Delray Beach, FL.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, 10AM at the funeral home.
