David Randall
Tiffany
April 17, 1931 – January 25, 2026
David Randall Tiffany, 94, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, in Boca Raton, Florida.
David was born on April 17, 1931, in Orange, New Jersey, to John M. Tiffany and Margaret Mellon Tiffany. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 as a Chief Clerk in the Adjutant General's Corps during the Korean War. David was honorably discharged in November 1953 with the rank of Sergeant First Class and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
Following his military service, David attended SUNY New Paltz and graduated in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. He later earned two master's degrees in education from Hofstra University.
David dedicated 27 years to teaching, primarily fifth grade, in the South Country School District in New York. Known for his creativity, patience, and thoughtful approach to education, he was deeply respected by his colleagues and students alike. As part of the "Cluster B" fifth-grade team, his work on the innovative "Boomsville" curriculum earned recognition in the 1970s.
Later in life, David became a published author with the release of his children's book, Harry Hampton, in 2022. Inspired by his experiences at Hampton Avenue Intermediate School. The book was a cherished achievement in his 90th year. He hoped it would be read, shared, and enjoyed by children for generations.
David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. To his family, he was a constant source of calm, reliability, and safety. He embodied what it meant to be a caretaker, provider, and teacher. Though he left the classroom years ago, he never stopped teaching those around him through his patience, routine, and quiet example.
In retirement, David found meaning in the rhythms of daily life—early mornings at the gym, rounds of golf, jazz music, football pools, watching horse racing, Disney visits, and evenings spent watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, usually knowing every answer. He devoted the last three decades of his life to being an extraordinary grandfather. Present every day, shaping his grandchildren's lives in ways both big and small. His steady presence was a foundation for his family, and his absence leaves a space that can never be filled.
David lived a full life with humility and selflessness, always putting others above himself. His quick wit, gentle nature, and quiet generosity left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his daughter, Jane Tiffany Radetsky, and Eric J. Grinrod of Delray Beach, Florida; sister, Joan T. Doran of New London, New Hampshire; sister-in-law, Linda M. Thorpe of San Clemente, CA and grandchildren, Paige A. Radetsky, Leah N. Radetsky, and John R. Radetsky of Orlando, Florida. He is also survived by his niece, Susan Doran, and nephews Thomas M. Doran, Kevin D. Doran, and John T. Doran of New York, Maine, and New Hampshire.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, June A. Soltan (2017); his children John (1960), Mary (1964), Kathleen (1977), and James Randall (1979); his parents, John and Margaret Tiffany.
