Deborah
Meyer
December 6, 1964 – October 4, 2020
Deborah Meyer, 55, of Boca Raton and formerly of New York City, passed away suddenly on October 4, 2020. Deborah, Debra, Debbie, Deb, Aunt Debbie was a loving daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and great aunt, as well as, friend of many. She is survived by her mother Emma Meyer of Delray Beach (formerly of New York and New Jersey) and brother and sister-in-law Harold and Ginny Meyer, niece Tory Meyer and nephew Jake Meyer and his wife Rachel and children Lacey and Jordan, as well as, uncles, aunts and cousins in Germany, including Stephanie Olufs of Naples.
Debbie touched many lives and there will be a great void in many people's lives going forward. Her friends were her extended family and she held them all dear. A quote from a close friend; "The thing about Deb is that she had so many friends who she made feel like they were her best friends." Deb had a zest for life that was unparalleled - always doing something or talking to someone about their life, the next workout, race, trip, volunteering, outing or party. She was the consummate planner, hatching ideas and cajoling all to join in. Her extended family included High School and College friends, NYC and Florida running, cycling and fitness buddies, as well as, Friends in Faith, her boyfriend Craig Ulmer and many more.
Deborah was a long-time, well-respected marketing executive in magazine media in Manhattan who relocated to Florida after her father passed to be with her aging mother. She was eager to transition her career towards an organization with an altruistic mission and did, as she joined the Health Care District of Palm Beach County, a healthcare nonprofit that provides a health care safety net in the Palm Beach community.
Moving to a new city might be challenging for some but not for Deb. Just like in New York, she had a rich and full life outside of her career. Having thoroughly enjoyed being a long-time member of the New York Flyers running club, she knew exactly where she was going to jump in in south Florida and joined several running clubs and cycling groups. In just a few short years, Deb made dozens of close friends in the local athletic community and regularly racked up age group awards in races. She was an athlete and competitor tackling more than 20 marathons around the globe, completing a full Ironman triathlon and summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro. She still made time to serve others and could routinely be found volunteering with youth running clubs, local churches and worshiping in the local faith based community.
Deb lived as she laughed, heartily - with great passion and exuberance. Deb's laugh was infectious. It was loud and unabashed. It made you smile and laugh just listening to it.
Friends may share thoughts and memories with Deb's mother Emma Meyer, 1425 South Congress Avenue #253, Boynton Beach, Florida 33426 and contribute to causes dear to her heart @
