Obituary

Delores Josephine (Witel) Tucker of Boca Raton, FL, (formerly of West Orange, NJ), passed away on September 22, 2021, at 87 years of age. Born to the late Emilio and Nettie (Oufiero) Witel, who immigrated to New Jersey from Italy, Delores was the youngest of six children (brothers Sonny and Robert and sisters Rae, Lucy, and Marion), all of whom preceded her in death.

She was married to Ralph A. Tucker, who affectionately called her "Dee Dee," for nearly 40 years; together they had 7 children. Delores was preceded in death by Ralph and four of their children (Robbie Tucker, Pat Tucker, Karen Oakes, and Annie Fallo). She is survived by her daughters Sherry Behr and Doree Tucker/partner Karen Gleich and her son Mike Tucker/wife Becky Tucker.

Delores was a loving grandmother to her 14 grandchildren: Adam Behr, Shauna (Oakes) Morris, Kimmie Behr, John-John Oakes, Jaclyn (Fallo) Levin, Beth (Tucker) Smith, Ashley (Oakes) Cato, Lindsey Behr, Heather (Tucker) Bui, Bobby Tucker, Chrissy Oakes, Zac Fallo, Brittany Gleich-Tucker, and Alexis Fallo. She also was a great-grandmother to 16 great-grandchildren: Brendin, Taylor, Aspyn, Kadyn, Luka, John, Patty, Christen, Amaya, Lincoln, Penelope, Kaysen, Desiree, Aiden, Ari and Bella. And, Delores has many loving nieces, nephews, and friends who will greatly miss her.

A homemaker for much of her life, Delores also worked at Ramada Inn for more than 20 years. She celebrated her Italian heritage and her cooking was loved by her children and grandchildren who cherish her recipes, especially her tomato sauce, stuffed artichokes, and Black Walnut cake. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends as well as traveling—especially on cruises—and playing bingo. Delores was an avid reader and adored anything purple.

A celebration of Delores' life will be held on Saturday October 9 th , 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lorne & Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6th Avenue, Delray Beach, FL 33484.  Following the Celebration of Life, the family will hold a Prayers of Life ceremony at Boca Raton Cemetery and Mausoleum, 451 SW 4th Avenue, Boca Raton, FL 33432. The family is requiring face-masks to be worn inside the funeral home.

A private reception will be hosted at her daughter Doree's house, where Delores lived for her last 24 years.

In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital , which was Delores' most beloved charity.
