Doris Bayley Littlefield, 90, of Delray Beach and formerly of Miami, passed away on August 17, 2015. Mrs. Littlefield was predeceased by her husband, W. Joseph Littlefield in 1981. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa L. Carter of Delray Beach, her son, Joshua B. Littlefield of Wellesley, Mass. and her grandchildren, Thomas and Joshua Carter, Elizabeth, Robert and William Littlefield. Mrs. Littlefield enjoyed a fullfilling career at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens in Miami (1974 to 1996), as Assistant Curator, Chief Curator & Curator of Collections and finally Assistant Director for Collections & Exhibits. She is an alumni of Hollins College in Virginia and Washington Univeristy in St. Louis, where she received her B.A. and M.A. She also held a Certificate in Art History from the University of Miami. Mrs. Littlefield treasured her family and friends. She was a scholar with a great love of history and a strong sense of curiosity. She traveled the world and captured much of it on film, which she often shared with others through her various lectures. A service will be held in Annisquam, Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the National Trust for Historic Preservation or Abbey Delray North.
