Obituary

née Dorothy Lynn Pase

Dori Kopcik, 66, of Delray Beach and formerly of Twinsburg, Ohio passed away on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017 peacefully at home in her sleep. She was the adoring grandmother of Jasmine "Sweet-Pea-Pumpkin-Seed-Little-Wingless-Bumblebee" Toste, devoted mother of Victoria J. Kopcik Toste, cherished sister of Susan Oliver, Charla Prillaman, Denny Clark, Debbie White, and Trish Olson. Easily amused and entertaining to children, she was a fun person who held a special place in the hearts of her nieces and nephews Sharon, Josh, Joey & Betsy, Ty & Tina, Kelly, D.J., Dana & Devin, Jenny, Melissa and Thomas, as well as friends of the family Carrie and Nathan.

Dori was a humble person who believed in hard work and doing the right thing. She was practical and honest and lived without pretense. She was not motivated by the things of this world; rather, she valued spending time with the people she cared about and loved to just sit and talk. She was excellent at card games and backgammon. She was perceptive and enjoyed analyzing people, particularly sales pitches, and watching QVC, Survivor, and Big Brother. Caring for people and animals was especially important to Dori, and children and pets were naturally drawn to her. She earned the nickname "baby whisperer" because of her ability to calm and soothe. In spite of any struggles, she had a deep sense of tranquility in her soul that all creatures could sense.

Dori was much smarter than she gave herself credit for, put others before herself, was kind and generous, fair and wise, possessed of an iron will, and quietly valued being helpful. She was true to herself and acted with integrity in all her dealings, regardless of circumstances or personal gain. She leaves a legacy of sacrifice, selflessness, service, and simplicity. She was loved.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm with a funeral service at 3:30pm at Lorne and Sons Funeral Home in Delray Beach for anyone wishing to pay their respects.

She will be laid to rest the following morning at Delray Beach Memorial Gardens.
