Obituary

E. Robert Hanslip passed away peacefully on March 9th, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on September 5, 1930, in Kansas City, Missouri, he was the beloved son of Edward and Helen Suddarth Hanslip.

He spent his early years in the Kansas City area before attending Shawnee Mission High School. Midway through his high school years, he transferred to The Principia, a coeducational Christian Science boarding school outside of St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating in 1948, he continued his education at Principia College in southern Illinois before transferring to Northwestern University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Marketing in 1952.

Following his graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served honorably at Fort Knox, Kentucky, until his discharge in 1954. That same year, he married Suzanne French, and together they welcomed four children: Robert Jr, Scott, Pamela, and Douglas.

His professional career began with Procter & Gamble, where he quickly rose through the ranks in sales and marketing. In 1962, he transitioned to P&G's International Division, relocating to Mexico City managing several core brands. After several years abroad, he returned to the U.S. and continued his career in marketing and business leadership, holding executive roles at Realex Corp, Warner Lambert (Consumer Division), and G.D. Searle's (Consumer Division) executive team. He later became President of The Weston Group, a marketing and management consulting firm in Westport Connecticut.

Throughout his life, he experienced great joys and challenges, including raising his wonderful children and navigating career success in multiple global markets, but he also endured personal sadness with the loss of two of his children. In 1967, he took on the responsibility of single parenthood after his divorce from Suzanne, and he later married Diana Rhines Latham, with whom he blended a family of eight children. Later in life, he found companionship again with his last wife, Laura Adler, with whom he shared his final years in Florida.

Throughout life, Bob appreciated membership at the Kansas City Country Club, the Connecticut Golf Club, the Beach Club of Palm Beach, and the Old Guard Club in Palm Beach.  In retirement, he enjoyed golfing, traveling, playing bridge, and reading. He will be remembered for his fun-loving nature, his outgoing social orientation, his intelligence, and his caring dedication to his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his two sons Scott and Doug, his very loving daughter in-law Judy Hanslip, his primary stepchildren with Diana, Scott, Jeff, Mark, David, and Cindy Latham, his grandchildren Brittany (Conrad Winiarski), Ryan, Drew (Joanna), Robert (aka Mac), Elizabeth and his great grandchildren Grayson and Madison, as well as his stepdaughters, Melanie (David) Kosloff and Joanna Adler, (Adrienne Campf). He was preceded in death by his son Robbie, and his daughter Pamela.

A memorial service will be held in his honor at Lorne & Sons Funeral Home in Delray Beach, FL on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 2:00pm, followed by a Celebration of Life nearby. A private burial service with Military Honors will take place at the South Florida National Cemetery in April.
