Obituary

Edward "Ned" Ferris Pugh, 81, of Boynton Beach, FL passed away on Monday, September, 25, 2023 at Bethesda Hospital East in the Intensive Care Unit.

Ned was born on July 20th, 1942 in Baltimore, MD to Edward and Nell Ferris Pugh. Ned grew up in Hagerstown, MD where he learned to play golf at a very early age. Golf would eventually take him to The University of Maryland where he was a member of the golf team.  After his freshman year, Ned transferred to his alma mater, Campbell University. His senior year they won the Small College National Golf Championship, a memory that Ned fondly spoke about among friends.

Upon graduation, Ned began his career in the Insurance industry at the prestigious RCM & D in Baltimore. Ned excelled in the insurance business. He served as a Sales Manager at Marsh-McLennan in Washington, D.C., President and CEO of Corroon & Black and finally Eastern Regional Director of Willis Corroon in Nashville, TN. He was a member of the Board of National Association of the Insurance Brokers. Ned also served in the Army Reserves as a Platoon Leader during the Washington D.C. Riots of 1968.

In 1975, Ned met his wife Nancy at Marsh-McLennan in Washington, D.C. Ned and Nancy were married for 46 years. They loved spending time together and some of their favorite activities were golfing, dining out, socializing and traveling. He was a member of the Bethesda County Club and participated in the team matches in MD, DC & VA.  Ned was past President of the Maryland State Golf Association.

In 1986, Ned's love for golf would bring the Pugh's to Quail Ridge in Boynton Beach, FL. Ned became extremely involved at the Club. Chairing the Golf Committee and serving on the Finance and Insurance Committees were just a few of his contributions. In 2001, Ned was the Stroke Play Club Champion and participated in many team matches throughout his years at the club. In 2002, Quail Ridge became Ned's full time home.

Ned is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Nancy Pugh Hollywood. He is survived by his loving wife Nancy Pugh, his daughter Tiffany Pugh, granddaughter Bianca Storto, and several nieces and one nephew.

A Memorial Service will take place at Seacrest Presbyterian Church, 2703 North Seacrest Blvd., Delray Beach on Saturday, October 14th, 2023 at 1:00 pm.  A Reception in the Fellowship Hall will follow the Memorial Service.
