Elia (a.k.a. Auntie) Picchetti passed away peacefully at home in Delray Beach, FL, on December 30 ^th , 2020, at the age of 106.

Elia Picchetti was born in Acsiano Pascano, Italy on April 18 ^th , 1914. At 15 years of age, she came to the United States with her older sister, Rina, younger brother Jimmy and step-mother, Maria, to join their father, Attilio. At Ellis Island, her name was legally changed to Ella. However, she always made sure that everyone knew her given name was "Elia"!

She spent her young adult life working as a seamstress and helping to raise her younger siblings, Jimmy and Dorothy. As her siblings married and had their children, Eugene, James, Laura, Marlene, Elaine, Robert, and Ronald, she took on a new and lasting name, "Auntie", a name that family, friends, and even she herself used. She dealt with an enormous amount of loss and heartache as a young person, yet she remained a resilient and loving woman whose greatest passion was caring for others. Although she never married or had children of her own, she was a 2 ^nd Mom to her nephew, Eugene, and a 2 ^nd grandma to her great nieces and nephew; Dava, Jillian, and Seth. Her loyalty, selflessness, and giving nature will never be forgotten by them.

Her indomitable spirit amazed everyone who knew her. She lived independently until the age of 100 and after that was lovingly cared for by her great-niece Dava and her husband Greg, followed by her nephew, Eugene.

Elia is survived by her Brother-in-law, Robert Moreschi of LaGrange Park, IL; nephew, Eugene Attilio Lucherini of Delray Beach, FL; niece, Laura D'Agostino (Joseph) of Niles, IL; niece, Marlene Picchetti of Downers Grove, IL; niece, Elaine Stejskal (Leonard) of LaGrange Park, IL; nephew, Robert Moreschi (Linda) of Lexington, VA; nephew, Ronald Picchetti (Diane) of Roselle, IL; great-niece, Dava Baez (Greg) of Saint Petersburg, FL; great-niece, Jillian Aucker of West Palm Beach, FL; great-nephew, Seth Lucherini of Key Largo, FL; and six more great-nephews and four more great-nieces, all of whom live in IL and VA; great-great nephew, Dante Aucker of West Palm Beach, FL; and great-great niece, Madison Aucker of West Palm Beach, FL.
