Obituary

Esther A. Stranahan, of Lantana and formerly of Boynton Beach passed away on January 1, 2017. Peggy was born June 13, 1924 in Summit, New Jersey, daughter of Nils and Thyra Anderson. She graduated from Summit High School in 1942 and began her working career for Bell Labs in Murray, NJ. Peggy moved to Pompano Beach in 1964 and worked for 15 years for Southern Bell, retiring in 1979 as Administrative Assistant. In 1981, she moved to Palm Beach Leisureville in Boynton Beach where she was very active with the "We Care" program. In 1989, Peggy became a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Delray Beach, where she was a Deacon and a Stephen Minister along with helping with Altar flowers for holidays and funerals. She moved to Vi at Lakeside Village in 2000, where she continued her volunteering and was on the Board and became President of the Resident Council. She was most proud of the work she accomplished with getting City buses to aid the seniors and the creation of a Senior Center that flourish to this day at Lakeside. Peggy was predeceased by her husband Samuel in 1989. She is survived by her sister Sylvia Dahl, brother Wilhelm Anderson, several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 1:30PM to 3:30 PM at Vi at Lakeside Village Fireside Lounge, 2792 Donnelly Drive, Lantana, FL 33462.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bethesda Memorial Hospital, Boynton Beach.
