Eugene F. "Gene" Buschmann, 87, of Boynton Beach, passed away on May 14, 2017. He is survived by his sons, David(Dianne) Buschmann and Paul (Lauren) Buschmann. He is also survived by his two brothers, Ralph and Ivan Buschmann, of Vienna and Washington, Missouri. Gene also leaves two grandsons, Alex Buschmann and Will Buschmann. Gene was predeceased by his wife, Ann.

Gene was born in Washington, Missouri on October 13, 1929. He graduated from Vienna Public High School in 1947, and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950. From 1950 through his retirement in June of 1980, Gene was assigned to sixteen different air force bases in various capacities. He served a tour in Vietnam in 1970-1971, where he was the squadron chief for the Military Airlift Command Post at Tan Son Nhut Air Base in Saigon, Republic of Vietnam. Gene retired with the rank of Full Colonel as the Chief of Staff of the Air Force Reserve in June of 1980. He was a command pilot with 11,904 hours flying the C-47, C-54, KC-97, C-130, C-131, and C-141 aircraft. His military decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, and the Air Force Commendation Medal.

Upon retirement from the Air Force, Gene and Ann moved to Boca Raton, Florida, where he worked as the office manager for the Boca Raton law firm of LaValle, Wochna, Rutherford and Brown. After LaValle Wochna, he served as the secretary/treasurer for Eastern Metal Supply in Boynton Beach, Florida, until his real retirement in January of 2016.


A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 5:30PM to 7:30PM at Lorne & Sons Funeral Home, located at 745 NE 6th Ave, Delray Beach, FL 33483. A committal service will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at 11:30AM at the Boca Raton Mausoleum, which is located at 451 SW 4th Ave, Boca Raton, FL 33432.
