Evelyn Folgers Bilthuis, 103, of Delray Beach went home to our Lord on Friday, November 3, 2023 after a life well lived.

She was the beloved wife of John Bilthuis of 62 years. Born and raised in Chicago, IL, Evelyn came to Florida in 1970. John and Evelyn enjoyed traveling and visited almost all the United States and many countries on most continents.  As an accomplished musician, Evelyn played the organ for every church of which she was a member.  She was an avid reader, fascinated with biographies and her love of history, she could deliver accounts and details on any subject equivalent to that of a professor of history.  As a member of America's greatest generation, she endured the Depression, supported her husband, John for over two years as a soldier in World War II, and cherished her homeland.  She especially loved the Lord, expressing "my goal in life was that all of my children and family members worship the Lord and come to believe in Him as their savior and to serve Him" (October 31, 2023).  She taught us all patience and the art of compromise.  She will be remembered for her sharp mind, sincere words, genuine warm hugs, and wonderful sense of humor.

Evelyn was a precious mother to sons, John (Ramona) Bilthuis of Denver, CO and Charles (Terri) of Boynton Beach, FL; daughters, Ruth (David) Kross of Greeneville, TN and Claire (Dustin) Dunn of Pompano.  She was grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Friends may call on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at the Lorne & Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6th Avenue (North Federal Highway), Delray Beach.  A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023, 11:00AM at the funeral home followed by entombment in the Boynton Beach Mausoleum.
