Obituary

Evelyn (Jake) E. Heath, 92, well-known local golf champion died Friday, May 1, 2015 in her Florida home at Delray Dunes, Boynton Beach, Florida. She was surrounded by her loving family when she joined her late husband C. Boyd Heath, Jr. at the great golf course in the sky.

A lifelong Lancaster County, PA resident, she was born in Brickerville, PA. She graduated from Warwick H.S. in Lititz, PA and Temple University, Philadelphia in 1943. She was a decorated athlete with sixteen varsity letters at Temple including field hockey, tennis, basketball, fencing and gymnastics. She later excelled at golf, winning her first club championship at Media Heights in 1949 and her last club championship at Delray Dunes in 1999, earning more than 25 total championships. She was a seven-time Lancaster County women's golf champion and was victor in the inaugural Pennsylvania Women's golf senior championship. She recorded nine holes-in-one during her golfing career. Up until her death she was Chairperson of the Board at National Bearings Co. , Lancaster, PA.

At Temple she earned a B.A. in Education and taught Physical Education at Penn Manor in Millersville, PA and Lancaster Country Day School and coached at Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, PA. Later she refereed field hockey and basketball.

She is survived by daughters Jessica H. May (George D.), Anne H. Dana (Robert G.) Lancaster, PA, and son Andrew B. Heath (Judith A.) Boynton Beach, FL, five grandchildren (Scottie May, Boyd May, Heather Dana, Jed Dana, & Maggie Phillippi), and eight great-grandchildren.
