Fausta Adolfina Fernandez Montane Palacio, 97, died at home on Sunday, December 25th, 2016 peacefully from complications after a fall. She was under the care of Hospice of South Georgia. Fausta was born on December 19th, 1919 in Havana, Cuba. She was the daughter of Adolfo and America Fernandez. She lived in Cuba until 1960. Once Fausta was in the United States she lived in Florida, Ohio, and Virginia. In April of 2012, she came to live with her son Ignacio and daughter-in-law Debbie in Jesup, GA. Lupa's fondest memories were all about the part of Havana where she spent her childhood and most of her youth: El Malecon. She would often reminisce about the beauty of the ocean. Lupa worked hard as a seamstress in a factory and later learned the craft of upholstery in an effort to help her young family. She had a cheerful personality and an easy smile. This smile made everyone like her. It was always easy to talk to her and conversations with her often ended in laughter.
She is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-laws, Gabriel and Evelyn of Miami, FL and Ignacio and Debbie of Jesup, GA; seven grandchildren, Ricardo DeParias of St. Augustine, FL, Veronica, Francisco and Alejandro Palacio of Miami, FL, Andrew, William and Anthony Palacio of Jesup, GA.
Lupa was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Ricardo; brother, Adolfo Antonio Fernandez Montane; sister, Ana America Fernandez Montane and grandson, Gabriel Palacio.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Vincent Ferrer, 840 George Bush Blvd, Delray Beach, FL on Thursday, December 29th, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow at the Boynton Beach Mausoleum. There will be a memorial service in Jesup, GA at First Baptist Church in the fellowship hall at a later date.
