Gabino S. Cuevas, 93, a long time resident of Delray Dunes Golf and Country Club passed away at home on August 22, 2018. Dr. Cuevas, "Gabby" to his friends, was born in Caibarien, Cuba in 1924. He graduated from the University of Havana School of Medicine in 1949. He completed his residency in Pathology at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Miami Beach where he met his wife Ann, a Registered Nurse. Following their marriage in 1953, Dr. Cuevas was assigned to the United States Army 406 Laboratory in Tokyo, Japan where he served for two years. Dr Cuevas began his career at Bethesda Hospital in 1959 where he had a long and accomplished career as Chief Pathologist and as the Director of the Department of Nuclear Medicine. His favorite past times were golfing, watching baseball and spending time with his family members.

Dr. Cuevas is survived by his wife Ann Fournier Cuevas; Daughters - Barbara J. Cuevas, Naples FL; Anita Cuevas Simon, Winter Haven FL; Carolyn Cuevas Walker, Clover, SC; Diana Cuevas Powers, LA; Grandchildren - Jonathan Price, Ross Simon, Jocelyn Kennedy, Catherine Simon and Jordan Brock. The four great grandchildren are Jaila and Jayna Price, Clara Jean Simon and Kara Ann Kennedy.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, 10:00 AM at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, 840 George Bush Blvd., Delray Beach.  Entombment will follow at the Gardens Mausoleum in Boca Raton, FL.
