Obituary

Gail Ann Burns passed away peacefully at Abbey Delray South Health Center in Delray Beach, Florida on September 16, 2023.  She was predeceased by her mother Margaret and father John Gallagher.  She is survived by her husband of 56 years James J. Burns, her children Michele A. Blejwas and her husband Brian of Delray Beach Florida, James R. Burns of Delray Beach Florida and Patrick J. Burns of Orcas Island, Washington, her sister Jacqueline Lukacs, brothers Jack and Kevin Gallagher, her grandchildren Kelly and Andrew Blejwas and many nieces and nephews.

Gail was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut and resided in Hamilton Square, New Jersey her entire life.  She is a graduate of Notre Dame High School Lawrenceville, NJ and St. Francis School of Nursing in Trenton, NJ.  She was a Cardiac Intensive Care Nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Trenton, NJ.

Gail had a great love for Long Beach Island, NJ and its beaches where she spent 54 years at her summer home, and her memories endured forever.  Gail enjoyed having friends and family at the shore, loved boating including taking boat rides up the beach and using the boat for trips to lunch with friends.  She was also an avid reader, enjoyed her early morning LBI walks, bike riding, walking the beaches, trips to Atlantic City and dinner parties with her many dear friends and family.

Gail and Jim were long time members of Our Lady of Sorrows / St. Anthony's Parish in Hamilton Square, NJ and recently Saint Vincent Ferrer Parish in Delray Beach, FL.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 10:30am at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, 840 George Bush Blvd, Delray Beach, FL 33483.

Further Memorial Services and Burial under the direction of Saul Colonial Home in Hamilton Square, NJ will be at a later date.
