Gene Mehalik, 87, passed away on December 24, 2014. Born in McKeesport, PA, Gene served in the U.S. Navy before moving to Miami, FL in 1954. He worked as a night auditor in hotels on Miami Beach (before the area emerged as "South Beach") & Miami Springs until his retirement in 1998. From 1998 until 2014, Gene resided in Delray Beach, FL. He survived his beloved wife, Emma since her passing in 2005. Gene is survived by his son, Eugene Jr. & daughter-in- law Lauran; grandchildren Geno & Gennifer; brothers-in-law, Edward & Albert Vojtek; nieces, Cindy, Monica & Donna Lee and nephew Tom; and his cousins Pat & Rita Joyce. Gene was grateful for the love and support he received from dear friends, particularly Lynn Endorff, Liz Foster, Colleen Schuhmann and Tim & Hans Peeters. A viewing will be held at Lorne & Sons Funeral Home 745 NE 6 Avenue (N. Fed Hwy), Delray Beach on Saturday, December 27, 2014 from 9am to 10:30am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00am at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, 840 George Bush Blvd., Delray Beach.
