George Brock Stewart, 87 of Delray Beach, FL, and formerly of Phelps, WI died peacefully at Bethesda Hospital in Boynton Beach, FL on November 8, 2017.
Born in Chicago in 1930, Brock graduated from DePauw University where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi. He went on to serve his country in the Korean War, earning the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the US Coast Guard. Brock settled in Chicago where he grew a successful commercial real estate business.
Brock's dedication to his church and reading scripture was an important part of his life. He was known for his kindness and generosity, and will be fondly and lovingly remembered by family and friends for his love of life, his quick wit and humor, his enjoyment of music, tennis, and boating, and his home in the Northwoods of Wisconsin that he shared with his wife of 25 years, Frances Jeanne.
Brock cherished his family. He was father to Cynthia Stewart Miller, James Brock Stewart, Susan Porter Johnson (William) and Barbara Ann Thompson (Lloyd); grandfather of Christopher and Matthew Miller, Nicholas Johnson (Jenifer), Peter Thompson (Leslie) and Cameron Thompson; great-grandfather of Annabelle and Carter Johnson and Caroline and Claire Thompson; and brother of Jean Stewart and Nancy Smetts (William). Brock is also survived by his loving partner in later life, Frances Frisbie. He was predeceased by his wives Jean Stewart and Frances Jeanne Stewart.
The family expresses their heartfelt appreciation to his dedicated and compassionate caregivers Sherene Campbell and Janett Morgan. Brock will truly be missed by his family and friends, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
