Obituary

Gerard Vertucci, 87, of Delray Beach, Florida, and formerly of Huguenot, died on Thursday, March 5, 2015 surrounded by family and friends. A loving brother and devoted father and grandfather, Mr. Vertucci was born and raised in Brooklyn before moving to Staten Island. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Known as "Jerry" to many of his friends and family, Mr. Vertucci worked as a mathematics teacher at Dyker Heights Intermediate School 201 in Brooklyn for over 25 years. Jerry was a lifelong New York Yankees fan. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife Grace, daughter and son-in-law, Roseann and Michael Kytka of Queens; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Megan Vertucci of Dublin, Ohio; and grandchildren, Michael and Alexandra Kytka, and Nicholas and Samantha Vertucci.

Friends may call on Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 5PM to 8PM at the LORNE & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 745 N.E. 6th Avenue, Delray Beach. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 9, 2015 10:30AM at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, 840 George Bush Blvd., Delray Beach. Burial with military honors will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2015 10:45 AM Lane #3 at the SOUTH FLORIDA NATIONAL CEMETERY, Lake Worth, FL.
