Gerry D. Granito, 90, passed away peacefully at home in Delray Beach, FL on Thursday, September 18, 2025.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Gerry and his bride, Joan (Gassmann) Granito of NJ moved to Poughkeepsie, NY in 1958 to begin his long and distinguished career at IBM. Throughout his career, Gerry was instrumental in the development of numerous IBM large systems computers and products. The pinnacle of his career, and the job he enjoyed most, was the time he spent as IBM Poughkeepsie Site General Manager and IBM Data Systems Division Vice President.

In retirement Gerry volunteered as a mentor for SCORE, helping small business entrepreneurs to succeed. His hobby was keeping up with cutting-edge technologies and products.

Gerry is predeceased by his parents David J. Granito and Marie (Germack) Granito, his sisters Livia Donovan and Alice Salmond, his wife Joan, and his loving son, Gary D. Granito. Gerry is survived by his daughter Laura Demos (Jim) of CT, his son Jeffrey Granito (Kim) of PA, and Gary's wife Andrea Granito of MA. He was the proud grandfather of Gregory Granito, Derek Granito, Nicholas Demos (Jessica), Karalyn Demos, Adam Granito, Michael Granito, and Andrew Granito. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A private family memorial ceremony will be held at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Gerry's name to the American Heart Association.
