Quijano Quinones
September 1, 1927 – June 10, 2020
Today we are honoring a great man! Gil E. Quijano Quinones died peacefully at home
on June 10, 2020 in Delray Beach, FL at the age of 92.
Our dad Gil is survived by his lovely wife Juanita, his children Rick, Fred, Gigi, Linda & myself
Evelyn.
Gil was born on September 1st, 1927 in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. Where he met his
sweetheart Juanita and they married over a period of time. They welcomed several children
into their home and he is remembered as a gentle father.
Gil joined the Army and earned the Rank of Specialist Six. He served for 22 years as a Chief
Aircraft Mechanic. He also was a musician in the Army Band and played the clarinet and the
saxophone. He also sang very well. Our father loved music and life. He served in the Korean
and Vietnam war. He did two tours in Vietnam. He was awarded several medals: Good
Conduct Medal, Sharp Shooter Carbine Medal, Oak Leaf Cluster Medal, Army Commendation
Medal. The most important medal is the best husband and father, grandfather and great
grandfather of a lifetime.
After retiring from the Army we moved to N.Y. for a while but relocated to Florida where he
made his home with his beautiful wife Juanita. They were married for 70 years. He was an
active and dedicated member of the church. He loved our lord. We ask the Lord to open the
gates of Heaven and welcome this special man.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2020 from 12 PM to 4 PM with a service at
3:30 PM with Reverend James Brown officiating at Lorne & Sons Funeral Home. Private Family
burial with military honors will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the South
Florida National Cemetery (6501 FL-7, Lake Worth, FL 33449) in Lane 5.
Face masks and
social distancing are required at The South Florida
National Cemetery.
We will miss you dad and we hope to honor your memory always.
