Gilman Pelletier passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 22nd at home surrounded by his family. Gil was with his wife Mary, his two sons, Dennis and Kenneth and his grandsons, Tom and Eric. Gil is survived by his wife, two sons, five grandsons and seven great grandchildren as well as his sister, Rella Daigle
Gil was born in Fort Kent, Maine on June 30, 1922. He grew up on the family farm until the age of seventeen when he left home to join the Civilian Conservation Corps. He later he moved to Hartford, Connecticut where he worked at Pratt & Whitney until the beginning of World War II, when he enlisted in the United States Navy. After training and duty aboard a minesweeper in Boston Harbor Gil was assigned to the newly commissioned aircraft carrier John Hancock. While in Boston he met and married Priscilla Rounds before sailing to the West Pacific where he served for the remainder of World War II. After the war Gil returned to Boston where he and Priscilla had their first son, Dennis. The family moved to Needham, Massachusetts in 1951 where they had their second son Kenneth.
Gil and Priscilla lived and raised their family in Needham until after Gil's retirement in 1989. Shortly thereafter they permanently moved to their new home in Delray Beach, Florida. Priscilla passed away in 1992 and Gil later met his current wife Mary Campbell. Mary and Gil were married in 1994 and have since lived in Delray Beach, most recently at Abby Delray South.
Family and friends are invited to a service in honor of Gil's life on Tuesday, April 24th at 10:00 AM. The service will be held at the Provan Center at Abby Delray South, 1717 Homewood Blvd, Delray Beach, FL.
