Harriette Thorp Lonsway, 94, of Pompano Beach, FL passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at her home.


Harriette was born on November 28, 1921, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of George and Sadie Ann (Brennan) Thorp. She lived most of her life in Bryan, OH, where she met and married James Paul Lonsway on June 26, 1943.


She and James lived in Sidney, OH from the mid 1950s until retiring to Delray Beach, FL in 1981, where they enjoyed golf and tending to their home and yard. They were active members of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church of Delray Beach, FL. Harriette enjoyed knitting and helped found Bear Ladies of Delray Beach, an organization that knit bears to give to children in area hospitals from Delray Beach, FL to Fort Lauderdale, FL. She and James moved to The Preserve at Palm Aire in January 2015.


Harriette's son, Michael James Lonsway, preceded her in death on August 6, 2005. She is survived by her husband, James Paul Lonsway of Pompano Beach, FL; son, Joseph O. Lonsway of Wilton Manors, FL; daughter, Christy Jo Lonsway Theodore of Pittsville, MD; and grandson James William Williams of Pittsville, MD.


A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 10:00 AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 9600 W. Atlantic Ave. Delray Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church 9600 W. Atlantic Ave. Delray Beach, FL 33446.
