O'Brien
August 5, 1943 – May 14, 2025
Helen O'Brien, 81, went to the Lord peacefully on May 14, 2025, with her loving family by her side in Delray Beach, Florida. Helen was born on August 5, 1943, in Manhattan, NY to Francis "Frank" and Mary "May" (Connolly) Dempsey.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Edward "Ed" O'Brien, in 2020 and her infant son, Timothy Keller, in 1967. She is survived by her sons Anthony "Tony" Keller of Delray Beach, Florida, Brendan Keller of Delray Beach, Florida, Brian Keller (Ashley) of Hoboken, New Jersey; and daughter Erin Keller of Delray Beach, Florida, as well as nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren with another to be born in June.
Helen attended American Martyrs in Bayside, New York, St. Agnes Academic High School in College Point, New York, and St. John's University. After living in Oceanside, California, Helen settled in Holden, Massachusetts where she raised her children. Helen served in various leadership roles within her community, including as President of the Holden Women's Club.
For eighteen years, Helen took special pride in her volunteer work at Problem Pregnancy, a pro-life center in Worcester, Massachusetts, where she was dedicated to "saving one baby at a time." After moving to Delray Beach, Florida twenty years ago, Helen continued her pro-life mission through Birthline, a Catholic Charities program. Helen's face would light up with joy whenever she was around babies.
A voracious reader with a keen interest in current events, Helen loved engaging in thoughtful discussions. She found peace and happiness near the ocean, whether in Eastham, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, or her home of Delray Beach, Florida.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 11am at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, 840 George Bush Blvd., Delray Beach, Florida 33483.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Problem Pregnancy of Worcester, Massachusetts or Birthline Catholic Charities of Delray Beach, Florida , in accordance with her wishes.
