Herbert Maier, 86, passed away on November 23, 2015.  Herbert was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on July 25, 1929 the son of Julius and Sophie Maier.  Born during the "Great Depression" Herb worked his way thru school to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Masters in Metallurgical Engineering and was a veteran of the Korean War.  He moved to North Palm Beach Florida in 1958 and worked at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft for thirty years.

Herbert was married to his wife, Joan Maier for 49 years until her passing in 2003.  One of his passions in life was playing the banjo.  He was a member of the Gold Coast Banjo Band and played at many Dixieland style venues around South Florida and attended banjo conventions around the country.

He is survived by his two sons, Michael Maier and Stephen Maier; daughter-in-law, Sandra Maier and grandchildren, Kendall Maier and Brandon Maier.
