Herbert Earl Strong, 84, of Titusville FL and formerly of Delray Beach passed away on Monday, September 2, 2013. Herbert was born on November 25, 1928 in Hartford, Connecticut to Herbert and Pearl Strong. He moved from Connecticut to Delray Beach, Florida in 1957. He worked for Florida Power and Light until 1989. Herbert was a member of the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus and the Last Volunteer Fire Fighter in Delray Beach. He was an avid supporter of St Vincent Ferrer Parish. He served during the Korean War and was a member of the Power Squadron and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife Doris, children, Brian (Jill) Strong of Mims, FL, Melanie (Thomas) McKenna of Palm City, FL, Cynthia (Raymond) Sapyta of Chester Springs, PA, Julie Stewart of West Palm Beach, FL, Kristin (Patrick) Moore of Bradenton, FL and Wayne (Donna) Strong of Centennial, CO, ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Margaret and brothers Russell and Harold.
Visitation hours will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2013, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the Lorne & Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6th Ave. (N. Fed Hwy), Delray Beach. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 6, 2013, 1:00PM at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, 840 George Bush Blvd., Delray Beach followed by burial services with military honors at the Delray Beach Cemetery.
