Obituary

Ira Rosenberg, 49, of Boynton Beach, FL, passed away tragically on Wednesday, January 4, 2012.

Ira grew up on Long Island, NY where he made life long friends who still love and respect him today. Ira moved to Boynton Beach in 1983, where he happily found and cultivated new lifelong friendships. It was in Boynton Beach that he also met and fell in love with his wife of 11 years Kim. Ira is also survived by his 2 daughters, Holly and Sarah, his beautiful granddaughter Alexis, his grieving mother Harriet, his father Ed, and his sister Beth.

Vern, Irv, Irving, Stanley, Cupcake, Shmeckleberg, Butch, Yussell, the Tattooed Jew…. so many nicknames were lovingly bestowed on him. Everyone…and I mean EVERYONE… knew "The Mayor". Ira was extraordinarily loved by any and all who were blessed to know him, and they were extraordinarily loved by him in turn. There wasn't a soul left untouched by his humor, wit, love, and boundless generosity. He was an incredibly giving person who would not only give his shirt off his back, but any amount of time required to listen, lend a shoulder, pick you and your broke down bike or car up, and fix 'er up, and of course always, to make new and amazing memories…albeit a bit befuddled at times. The "Ira Stories" are endless and will be told and retold for years to come. There are just not enough words or enough space in this sad, small place to write about the wonderful and surprisingly large person that was compacted into our Ira. That and they just don't make words big enough.

The family will be receiving friends from 2:00 to 3:00, Monday, January, 9th at Lorne and Sons Funeral Home with service beginning at 3:00.
Ira and Kimmy's home will be open for visitors after the service.

A Celebration of Life/Benefit for his wife and family will be held on February 4, 2012. Details of which are forthcoming, Please contact Dee at deesalis@yahoo.com to be placed on the mailing list when the event information is finalized.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital www.stjude.org would be gratefully appreciated.
