Obituary

On March 26, 2018 at 5:30 pm, Rev. Dr. J. William Talbott "Pastor Bill" finally finished the race the Apostle Paul wrote about in II Timothy 4. Bill was raised with his thoughtful and adoring younger sister Kath to love Jesus by their parents, W. Charlton and Jean Talbott.  Their home church was Sudbrook Methodist in Pikesville, Maryland.  Jesus had a hold on Dad from the beginning.  When he was 17, he earned his "License to Preach."  He went on to be educated at Frostburg State Teaching College and by his "Wife to be, Joanne."  And then on to American University.  He earned his Masters of Divinity at Wesley Theological Seminary in D.C. Later, against many odds, he earned his Doctorate of Ministry.  Bill spent the best part of his life with Joanne, serving God in the Baltimore and the Florida Conference.

We're not sure what we will miss most about Dad:  His dry wit or his day old 64 oz coca cola (GOOD STUFF!); his loud and boisterous singing (Hymns of old or Three Dog Night…didn't matter to him) or his picking up of trash at every stop we made; his stories of Philmont or his ability to name movies and movie stars from 1940 – 1990. WHAT WE WILL MISS MOST ABOUT HIM is how loyal he was to his canine pets; how willing he was to help others; how through his eyes everyone…everyone is the same…God's children. There are 1000's upon 1000's upon 1000's who have been affected by his ministry, his mentoring, his kindness, his friendship, his vulnerability and his service to God; and, how he loved his niece, Laurie and her family and his nephews David (niece – Jennifer); Eddie (niece – Yvonne); Stephen (niece – Angie) and their families; and how he adored his sister, Kath and his daughters Tammy and Alex (Alexis).  And how he spooned and pored over and loved that crazy and feisty wife of his, Joanne for 55 (yup – count 'em) 55 years!   … And so we have come to an end of a chapter in the life of the Talbotts…a good chapter!

We would be pleased if you joined us for Pastor Bill's Memorial Services (Yes, there are 3 to choose from!)

7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
