Jack D. Crocker passed away peacefully in the early morning on Friday, August 4th at the age of 87. Born unexpectedly on August 31, 1929 in Round Mountain, Alabama while his family was vacationing, he was a lifelong Floridian and spent his early life in Pahokee. He had been a resident of Delray Beach for over 70 years and enjoyed several different careers during that time, notably working at the family owned grocery store on West Atlantic Avenue back in the 1950's and 60's, giving almost 30 years of service to the United States Postal Service, and working at Blood's Hammock Groves in Delray Beach post-retirement. He served as a Sergeant in the National Guard and was a member of the local Masonic Lodge. He always had a smile for everyone and had a great sense of humor.
Jack is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary F. Lillard Crocker, and their son, Charles D. Crocker (Lynnette), of Delray Beach. (Jack lovingly referred to Charles as "Charlie Boy" in his later years and that will be a treasured memory.) He also leaves behind 2 grandchildren, Lauren Crocker Burnes (Taylor) of Coconut Creek, and Evan Crocker, of Delray Beach, as well as 2 great grandchildren, Jackson and Bradley Burnes, and additional extended family. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Doyle and Opal Hartline Crocker, brother Carl Crocker, and sister Mary Elizabeth Crocker Grantham (Jimmy).
Jack ("GrandDad") will be missed very much and his family will hold on to many wonderful memories made with him over the years.
A memorial service will be held soon at Manor Care in Boynton Beach, FL and the family greatly appreciates any donations made in Jack's name to the Alzheimer's Foundation or to Trustbridge Hospice.
