James Edward Flaherty, 69, of Delray Beach, passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday, February 5th, 2016.
Born in Philadelphia, Jim spent his early years in Miami and after high school enrolled in the Marine Corps. Following discharge, Jim attended the University of Florida where he received his degree in Nuclear Engineering. While practicing his career, Jim lived in many cities across the country, eventually retiring to Florida to pursue the things he loved most. Jim was an avid sailor, diver and underwater photographer.
Jim is survived by his brother Edward Flaherty and sister-in-law Karen of Bradenton, sister-in-law Linda Moore of Atlanta, Georgia, nieces Kelly Czerner and her children Mackenzie and Sean, Heather Figearo, and her children Caleb and Melissa and nephew Brad Flaherty.
Jim will be sorely missed by his family, many friends and fellow sailors.
May he sail the high seas of Heaven with tight lines and full sails.
