James Paul Lonsway, 98, of Pompano Beach, FL passed away peacefully on March 10, 2020, at The Preserve at Palm Aire. James was born on June 20, 1921, in New Riegel, OH to Ida (Gruss) and George Lonsway. He was living in Bryan, OH when he met and married Harriette Thorp on June 26, 1943.
James and Harriette lived in Sidney, OH from the mid 1950s until retiring to Delray Beach, FL in 1981, where they enjoyed golf and tending to their home and yard. They were active members of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Delray Beach, FL. James sang for many years with The Coastmen Chorus, a Barbershop Chorus in Boynton Beach, FL, as well as with a Barbershop Quartet. He and Harriette moved to The Preserve at Palm Aire, Pompano Beach, FL in January 2015.
James is survived by son, Joseph O. Lonsway of Wilton Manors, FL; daughter, Christy Jo Lonsway Theodore of Pittsville, MD; and grandson James William Williams of Pittsville, MD. James was preceded in death by his wife, Harriette Thorp Lonsway, on July 19, 2016, and son, Michael James Lonsway, on August 6, 2005.
Funeral mass for James Lonsway will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at St. Henry Catholic Church, 1500 S Andrews Ave, Pompano Beach, FL 33069. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 9600 W. Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach, FL 33446.
