Obituary

Born in Ft. Lauderdale and a life-long Floridian, Jim was the "caboose" of seven children, much adored and cared for by his siblings. His work ethic started young. Jim was working his own lawn business after school to save up money for his dream car.  The dream became reality. He was the immensely proud owner of a black Camaro even before getting a drivers' license.

The Peterson family was drawn to Delray, and Jimmy was an active part of the community. He met his wife of 27 years, Robin Rienhardt, at their Northeast High School reunion and were married on March 13, 1993. When his children came along, Shannon and Sam, he jumped in feet first to encourage and support their hobbies. From Little League baseball to local Boy Scout troops, soccer teams, softball, and dance. He made friends everywhere he went and was a familiar face to many. He and his wife were active members of both Lakeview and 1st Baptist of Boynton churches and had a large and loving church family.

He loved sports, the Gators, both the football team and as a hunting trophy. Jim was a fixer, wherever he went. If anyone he loved had a problem, he would spring right into action lending a helping hand. He always had a project going for someone else. He had a lively sense of humor, with a mischievous grin, that invited you to laugh with him. Jim and his wife owned their own plumbing business for 18 years, with Jim being a master plumber and member of the Delray Chamber of Commerce and LEADs group.

He was a loving brother, uncle, father, and husband. He influenced the lives of so many and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Boynton Church, 301 N Seacrest Blvd., FL 33435 March 6, 2021. Service begins at 11 a.m. A live stream will be available through the Church website.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to go to Ducks Unlimited, Inc. in honor of Jim's love of the outdoors and his commitment to conservation efforts. Click here to make an online donation .
