Obituary

James Marvin Sweat III, known as Jim, died suddenly at his residence
on August 30, 2012 at the age of 63.

Jim was born on July 29, 1949 to James Marvin Sweat Jr. and Mary
Elizabeth Sweat in Gallatin, TN. Jim became a Florida resident early
in his life when his father became a member of the Florida Conference
of The United Methodist Church.

Jim graduated from Seacrest High School in 1967 where he loved to play
football. He then earned a degree in education from Austin Peay State
University in Clarksville, TN in 1971. After college, Jim returned to
Delray Beach where he taught in several local schools. While
teaching, he found his passion working as a Fireman and earned the
title of an Emergency Medical Technician with the Palm Beach Fire
District. At the end of his career, Jim served as one of the Fire
Chiefs for the District. He was honored by his fellow workers as a
fair and competent servant of the department.

Preceding him in death is his mother, Mary Lib Sweat, and his first
spouse, Margaret Wise Sweat.
He is survived by his loving wife Holly Sweat,
daughters, Belle Quillen of Bunnell, FL and Donna Nault
of Palm Coast, FL father, James Marvin Sweat Jr. of St.
Petersburg, FL; brothers, Tom Sweat of Richmond, VA and Scott Sweat of
Delray Beach; sister, Jeanne McGuire of Cullowhee, NC; sons-in-law,
Todd Nault and David Quillen; and grandson, Brandon.

He will be remembered by family and friends for his great sense of
humor, his love for the outdoors and sports, and his desire to enjoy
life to the fullest.

A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at Cason
United Methodist Church, 342 North Swinton Avenue, Delray Beach, FL
33444 on Friday, September 7th at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made to Marine Mammal Conservancy,
