Jane Emery Macdonald Healy, 79, passed away on April 3, 2012 in Delray Beach, Florida. She lived with her husband, Fritz Healy, in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Jane was born in 1932 in Brooklyn, New York. Her parents were Margaret M.and John S. Macdonald of Scarsdale, New York. Jane attended Dana Hall Boarding School along with Smith College and Duke University.
She met the love of her life, Fritz Healy, in Germany in 1953 and they were married in Scarsdale, New York on July 24, 1954. They moved to East Lansing, Michigan while Fritz attended Michigan State. She was the proud mother of four children. While Jane and Fritz moved around a great deal with Fritz's job they settled in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1965. They lived and raised their family there for 12 years. Jane was a member of the Greensboro Junior League and Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She was active in the PTAs of Sternberger Elementary School, Kiser Middle School and Grimsley High School.
In 1978, Jane and her family moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina where Fritz took over Smithson Beverage. Jane is a member of The Tartan Club, a member of the Fayetteville Literary Guild and The Fayetteville Garden Club. She is a parishioner at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She also thrived in her volunteer position at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in the Cancer Center.
She is survived by her husband, Fritz Healy Sr., her children Mary Jane and Harold Beavers of Greensboro, NC, Patsy and Tom Wallace of Roanoke, VA, Mac and Linda Healy of Fayetteville, NC and Fritz, Jr. and Lynnea Healy of Southern Pines, NC.
Her 11 grandchildren are Katie and Ryan McGregor, Charlie Beavers, Mackie Healy, Jane Emery Wallace, Maggie Wallace, Ben Healy, Kelly Wallace, Fritz Healy III, Mimi Kate Healy, Signe Healy and Claire Healy.
Memorials can be made to the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Jane Macdonald Healy Fund c/o the Office of Development, P.O. Box 571021 Winston-Salem, NC 27157-1021. This fund supports Jane's passions for breast cancer research and the Gamma Knife Program.
Plans for a memorial service have not been confirmed.
