Obituary

Jean-Pierre de Fabrique, 76, of Boynton Beach and formerly of Martinique, passed away on May 25, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Jean-Pierre was born and raised on the beautiful island of Martinique, where he met and married his beloved wife, Janick. In 1971, a year after they wed, the lovebirds moved to Florida, where they raised their own family and made countless friends.

A dedicated father and family man, Jean-Pierre traveled internationally to support his son Yann as he competed in several world swimming championships along with two Olympics, as well as to spend time with his daughter when she lived in France and to care for his aging parents in his home country. Jean-Pierre was also a sports enthusiast and life-long fan of the Miami Dolphins, the University of Miami Hurricanes, and his children's alma maters: the Georgia Bulldogs and the UNC Tar Heels.

As a US citizen, Jean-Pierre personified the American dream, deeply committed to his community, his country, and his Catholic faith. In April 2022, he realized his long-held dream to visit Pearl Harbor with his family and wife. The trip to Hawaii also commemorated the couple's 51 years of marriage.

An enthusiastic kayaker and outdoorsman, Jean-Pierre found great joy communing with lazy manatees and other sea life in the crystal waters off south Florida's shoreline. Of course, nothing about Jean-Pierre himself was lazy. His home and neighborhood were places of great pride for the avid gardener and DIY enthusiast. While a rogue leaf stood no chance against Jean-Pierre's devotion to his pristine yard, his dedication to create and maintain a desirable living environment extended beyond the borders of his own property. Well-respected and well-known in his community, Jean-Pierre invested countless hours to advocate for numerous community improvement projects that have benefitted his neighborhood and the greater public for years. He will be missed by all but the iguanas he worked tirelessly to chase out of his garden.

Left to cherish Jean-Pierre's memory are his wife, Janick de Fabrique, his children – son, Yann de Fabrique and daughter-in-law Julie with their children Sebastien (16) and Zoe (14); his daughter, Kathleen de Fabrique Koster; brother, Loic de Fabrique with wife Carol; sister, Michelle Graciani with husband Francisco; four nieces and nephews, along with countless friends from childhood to adulthood.

The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 4, at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent Ferrer in Delray Beach and may be attended in real time via livestream at https://stvincentferrer.com/funerals/jean-pierre-de-fabrique/ . A Celebration of Life will follow at Unity Church Fellowship Hall, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
