Obituary

Joan E. Peever, 89, of Delray Beach, went to be with her Lord on May 31, 2018.  Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1928, she married Leonard in 1947, and then for a brief time, pursued her dream to be a professional singer, singing on the radio, on television, and in other venues on Long Island. In 1962, the family moved to Delray Beach, FL.  Joan and Lenny loved singing, and often sang on weekends at the Holiday Inn in Highland Beach.

She also enjoyed working at City Hall in Boca Raton for 23 years in the finance department.  She loved her co-workers and all the city employees that she came in contact with during that time. In 1990, she was honored to be named "Employee of the Year".  When Joan retired in 1991, Mayor Danciu declared it "Joan Peever Day", and she was overwhelmed by the 100 folks who stood in line to wish her well and say good-bye.  She was a long-time member of Spanish River Church and Seacrest Presbyterian Church. Joan loved people, especially her family, and only saw the good in everyone.  She was married to Leonard, her loving husband of 58 years, who passed away in 2005.  She is survived by her son Stephen (and Diane), her daughter Lenis (and Lee) Richwagen, grandson Christopher, granddaughter Kimberly (and Tommy) Thornton, and three great-granddaughters: Kayleigh, Autumn, and Caraline.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM with an 11:00 AM funeral service at Lorne and Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6 th Avenue (North Federal Hwy.), Delray Beach. Burial will follow at the Boynton Beach Cemetery.
